What this site is

The Local Home Pros is a free consumer matching service and publisher covering residential home improvement: replacement windows, roofing, bathroom remodels and tub-to-shower conversions, residential solar, and walk-in tubs and aging-in-place bathrooms. We do two things. We publish plain-language explanations of how these projects are scoped, priced and warrantied, and we take project requests from homeowners and pass them to contractors and providers who work in that ZIP code and that trade.

We are not a contractor. We do not manufacture, sell, install or finance anything, we do not perform work, and we do not quote prices. We do not warrant the work of any company we introduce you to. Every contract you sign is between you and that company.

Who we serve

Our readers are homeowners in the middle of a decision, usually one they make only a handful of times in their life. Somebody is looking at three roofing bids that differ by eight thousand dollars and cannot tell why. Somebody has been told their bathroom conversion is a one-day job and wants to know what that actually means. Somebody is trying to work out whether solar makes sense now that their state changed how exported power is credited. That is who the articles are written for.

We operate nationwide. Contractor coverage varies by trade and by market, and for some ZIP codes and some trades we may not have a match. When that happens we say so rather than sending your request somewhere it does not belong.

How we make money

We want to be direct about this, because it is the thing readers most deserve to know. The Local Home Pros is free to homeowners. We are paid by the contractors, service providers and marketing partners who receive consumer requests, generally as a per-referral or per-connection fee. We may also earn revenue from advertising displayed on this site.

That means we have a commercial relationship with the companies we introduce you to, and it means we are compensated whether or not you end up hiring anyone. It also means an introduction from us is not an endorsement, a certification, or a statement that a given company is the best or cheapest option in your market. We encourage every reader to collect at least three written bids, verify licensing and insurance independently with their state or local licensing authority, and check references before signing.

Submitting a request on this site is never a condition of reading anything here, and none of our articles are written or paid for by a contractor.

Our articles are written in house. We follow a few rules and would rather state them plainly:
